Family reunification with EU citizens
If you are an EU citizen, you can have family members join you and live with them under simplified conditions.
These regulations are applicable if you
-
- have the nationality of an EU country, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Switzerland
- live in another EU country
- work/are self-employed in this EU country or are able to finance themselves.
Examples:
You are a German citizen working in Belgium and would like your 20-year-old daughter with Russian citizenship to move to Belgium.
You are a Spanish national and live and work in Germany. You would like your Afghan wife to join you in Germany.
You are a German citizen and live in Austria. You work from home for a company in Germany. Your income is sufficient for you and your family to live on in Austria.
On our website familymigration.eu we have compiled detailed information and a Online tool which you can use to check whether your family members are covered by these regulations.
There are often difficulties in the practical enforcement of claims arising from EU freedom of movement law, so legal support is recommended.
Our specialist lawyers for migration law Sven Hasse and Marten Kaspar will advise and represent you in this area.
